Social marketing is…Social. And so are women. Go on your Facebook, check out twitter, head on over to blogger and click through some blogs. Who do you see commenting, posting, updating? Women. They are all about relationships, interaction, and encouragement. And they jump on board anywhere those things are happening, and they are happening on the internet.
Social marketing theory is about marketing through relationships. Women want a deal and they want to know all the facts. They want to know that they are not being lied to or being taken advantage of when buying a product. The key is to find people through social media outlets that you have things in common with. People who will like your product. Then, be their friend. Care about what they have to say and what is going on in their lives. They will check out your product and business. Then as your relationship grows and with it trust, they will be your friend and your customer.
Does all this mean that you pretend to be a women’s friend because you want them to buy from you? NO! A woman will smell that kind of behavior a mile away. A perfect place to start when social marketing to women is to have a presence on social media sites.
